From fragile miniatures to large-format masterpieces, through to a magically transformed and conserved bridal bouquet, floral art by Tina Altus tells stories full of imagination.

“The material of all my pieces are pressed flowers, chosen from my own collection of around 100,000 parts, which I have created entirely on my own,” the artist explains. For many years, Tina Altus has explored the immense field of conservation, drying and pressing of flowers and plants. She knows exactly when and where a specific flower is in bloom and collects most of the species herself. Exotic variations are purchased at her master florist, if she does not bring them home from one of her many trips around the world.

The bridal bouquet – a magical transformation

“The bouquet arrives at my studio between 2-3 days after the wedding”, Tina Altus states. “The various parts are being separated and each flower is pressed and conserved in an elaborate process. Then, my creative work begins.” Whether as mandala or a free, creative art piece, the final nature of the artwork reflects the client’s wishes and thus becomes a unique memory piece for the new home: “Six weeks later, your unique artwork arrives at your doorstep – a special moment, when the memory of all the splendid flowers at the wedding comes back to life and is immortalized.”

Tina Altus: Die einzigartige Welt der Blütenkunst

Ob fragile Miniatur oder großformatiges Meisterwerk, bis hin zum magisch transformierten Brautstrauß: Die floralen Kunstwerke von Tina Altus erzählen Geschichten voller Fantasie.

„Das Material meiner künstlerischen Arbeit sind gepresste Blüten“, erklärt die Künstlerin, „Ich greife auf eine Sammlung von 100.000 Teilen zu, die ich selbst erschaffen habe.“ Tina Altus setzt sich seit vielen Jahren intensiv mit dem schier unendlichen und extrem dankbaren Forschungsfeld des Konservierens, Trocknens und Pressens von Blüten auseinander. Sie sammelt fast alle Blüten persönlich und weiß genau, welche Pflanze wo und wann blüht. Exotische und sehr seltene Blüten bezieht Sie von ihrer Meisterfloristin, oder bringt sie kurzerhand selbst von Forschungsreisen aus fernen Ländern mit.

Magische Transformation: Das Brautstrauß-Kunstwerk

„Der Brautstrauß sollte 2 – 3 Tage nach der Hochzeit zu mir gelangen“, erklärt Tina Altus: „Ich zerlege die Blüten in ihre einzelnen Bestandteile. Jedes Blütenblatt wird gepresst und in einem aufwendigen Verfahren konserviert.“ Ob als Mandala oder wilde Kreation, das entstehende Kunstwerk entspricht jeweils den Wünschen der Kunden und wird so zum einzigartigen Erinnerungsstück für das neue Zuhause: „Nach ca. 6 Wochen hat das Brautpaar sein Original in den Händen. Ein besonderer Moment, wenn nochmals die Erinnerung an all die Blütenpracht der Hochzeit auflebt und sich verewigt hat.”
