KRAFTalm: Arrive to unwind

Perched at 1,355 metres above Itter, between the Wilder Kaiser mountains and the Kitzbühel Alps, nestles the KRAFTalm. Guests reach the hotel aboard the modern Salvistabahn gondola, gliding up the mountainside in just eight minutes while leaving both their car and the stresses of everyday life behind in the valley.

The story of KRAFTalm stretches back to 1909, when the property first welcomed guests with just 12 rooms. Over the decades, what started as a traditional mountain inn grew into a popular destination for summer visitors and winter sports enthusiasts alike. Today, sisters Marion and Evelyn Hölzl run KRAFTalm alongside their parents, Christl and Jakob, proudly continuing the family legacy into its fifth generation. The hotel offers 30 stylish rooms, a restaurant and a panoramic wellness area overlooking the surrounding peaks.

“Tradition and modern comfort go hand in hand here. For us, it isn’t a balancing act – it’s simply who we are,” says boss Marion Hölz. “There’s always been movement. Every generation at KRAFTalm has continued to develop the hotel, so embracing change and making the most of modern-day comforts has always come naturally.” Good food, genuine conversations, the relaxed informality of Tyrol and the idyllic mountain landscape all contribute to the unique atmosphere at KRAFTalm.

The same approach extends to the kitchen. At dinner, guests choose only their main course, while the rest of the menu remains a surprise. The chefs celebrate regional produce through imaginative dishes, whether that is locally sourced fish, inventive vegetarian cuisine or refined takes on Tyrolean classics, all prepared with genuine care and respect for both the ingredients and the landscape they come from.

In winter, guests can step straight from the hotel onto the slopes, with KRAFTalm located right in the heart of the ski area. In summer, hiking and cycling trails around Hohe Salve begin on the doorstep. Afterwards, guests can unwind in the infinity pool, filled with the hotel’s own spring water and overlooking the Wilder Kaiser, or relax on the panoramic terrace.

KRAFTalm is equally suited to business events and private celebrations. Two fully equipped seminar rooms provide an inspiring setting for meetings, retreats and special occasions, all at 1,355 metres above sea level.

Great food, welcoming surroundings and the tranquillity of the mountains allow guests to simply be themselves. Perhaps that is exactly why people have been returning to KRAFTalm for more than 100 years.

Raufkommen zum Runterkommen

Auf 1.355 Metern oberhalb von Itter, zwischen Wilder Kaiser und den Kitzbüheler Alpen, liegt die KRAFTalm. Bereits die Anreise ist etwas Besonderes: Mit der modernen Salvistabahn schweben Gäste in nur acht Minuten hinauf zur KRAFTalm. Das Auto bleibt im Tal, und mit ihm ein gutes Stück Alltag.

Die Geschichte der KRAFTalm reicht bis ins Jahr 1909 zurück. Schon damals bot das Haus 12 Zimmer und wurde von Erholungssuchenden geschätzt. Im Laufe der Jahrzehnte entwickelte sich aus der einfachen Alm ein beliebtes Ziel für Sommerfrischler und Wintersportler. Heute führt das Schwestern-Duo Marion und Evelyn Hölzl gemeinsam mit Eltern Christl und Jakob die KRAFTalm in fünfter Generation, mit 30 stilvollen Zimmern, Restaurant und Panorama-Almwellness.

„Dabei verstehen wir Tradition und Moderne nicht als Gegensatz. Für uns ist das kein Spagat, sondern so, wie wir selbst sind“, erzählt die Chefin Marion Hölzl. „Über die Generationen gab es auf der KRAFTalm niemals Stillstand, man entwickelte sich immer weiter. So ist es für uns klar, dass man mit der Zeit geht, sich anpasst und die Annehmlichkeiten des heutigen Lebens nützt.“ Gutes Essen, ehrliche Gespräche, das unkomplizierte Tiroler „Du“ und die idyllische Bergwelt prägen den Aufenthalt.

Auch kulinarisch geht die KRAFTalm ihren eigenen Weg. Beim Abendmenü wählen Gäste lediglich den Hauptgang, alles Weitere bleibt eine Überraschung. Das Küchenteam überrascht mit kreativen Interpretationen regionaler Produkte. Ob heimischer Fisch, vegetarische Gerichte oder Tiroler Klassiker – gekocht wird mit viel Liebe zum Detail, regionalen Produkten und großem Respekt vor Lebensmitteln und Natur.

Im Winter geht es direkt vom Hotel auf die Piste, denn die KRAFTalm liegt mitten im Skigebiet. Im Sommer beginnen Wander- und Bikewege rund um die Hohe Salve direkt vor der Haustür. Nach einem Tag in den Bergen laden der Infinitypool gefüllt mit eigenem Quellwasser inklusive Blick auf den Wilden Kaiser, und die Panoramaterrasse zum Entspannen ein.

Auch für Tagungen, Feiern und Retreats bietet die KRAFTalm einen besonderen Rahmen. Zwei modern ausgestattete Seminarräume machen Besprechungen und Veranstaltungen auf 1.355 Metern Seehöhe zu einem außergewöhnlichen Erlebnis.

Gutes Essen, Wohlfühlambiente und die Ruhe der Berge – auf der KRAFTalm darf jeder einfach so sein, wie er ist. Vielleicht ist genau das der Grund, warum Menschen diesen Ort seit über 100 Jahren immer wieder aufsuchen.
