For its 120-year anniversary the Secession building will present itself renewed and shiny. Aside from the permanent presentation of Gustav Klimt’s Beethoven Frieze (1902), this summer a sample field of Koloman Moser’s fresco Reigen der Kranzträgerinnen (1898), which was originally decorating the back of the building, will be displayed. “We have initiated a fresh round of measures to rehabilitate and modernise the heritage-protected building,” says spokesperson Karin Jaschke. “To help the dome to its former shiny glory, we are running a fundraising campaign. For a donation of 100 euros one of the 2,500 laurel leaves can be restored and gold plated. ”The current exhibition is by Viennese artist Rudolf Polansky.
