Juli by CS: Traditional Alpine fashion with a modern twist

The Austrian-German fashion brand Juli by CS creates beautiful dirndl dresses and Alpine fashion for modern women – with a nod to tradition as well as urban style. Susanne and Christian Struz founded the label after moving to Salzburg, where they find inspiration in traditional craftsmanship, the surrounding mountains and nature.

“The modern woman sticks to her origins, but also keeps up with time, especially in the fashion she wears,” says co-owner Susanne Struz, and makes a comparison with the play Jedermann: Staged in Salzburg for over 100 years, despite constant success, the audience’s expectations have of course changed. “The same is the case with fashion, even when it is so closely connected to tradition.”

Susanne Struz develops the fabrics together with an innovative manufacturer, reinterprets designs, and cuts and realises them in the trend colour of the season. Bordeaux and deep blues are this autumn’s colours. The main fabrics are loden, silk, cotton and stretchy materials for figure hugging cuts like the dirndl bodices. “For the first time, we even have a leather dirndl in our collection,” says Struz.

Susanne Struz has always been inspired by fashion. For 25 years, she has worked as buyer and purchasing manager for large fashion retailers. “Through my husband, who was born in Salzburg, and our move from Bavaria to Austria, I got the idea to establish my own, Alpine fashion label.” Juli by CS fashion and accessories effortlessly combine Bavarian ‘joie de vivre’ with a Salzburg way of life.
