Get ready for a month brimming with cultural experiences, from star-studded film festivals to illuminating light shows and melodious journeys. We simply cannot wait for these cultural events to light up our autumn evenings! Bring it on, October.
ZURICH FILM FESTIVAL, ZURICH (28 SEPTEMBER – 8 OCTOBER)
Mark your calendar for Switzerland’s cinematic epicentre, the Zurich Film Festival. Celebrities, directors and actors join from all over the world to celebrate the art of filmmaking and honour their craft. The week promises stellar debuts and captivating discussions – if you are a film buff, this one is for you.
ORF LONG NIGHT OF MUSEUMS 2022, ACROSS AUSTRIA (7 OCTOBER)
Hosted by ORF, Austria’s Long Night of the Museums is set to dazzle from dusk to the wee hours of the morning. A multitude of museums and galleries are flinging their doors wide open for nocturnal culture vultures, accompanied by workshops and concerts that transform the evening into a whimsical celebration of the arts and science.
FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS, BERLIN (6 – 15 OCTOBER)
Now in its 19th edition, the Festival of Lights will once again illuminate Germany’s capital in October. These bright and colourful illuminations highlight the architectural gems around the city – even the ones that are less famous. It makes for an enchanting exploration throughout Berlin.

HEINRICH SCHÜTZ MUSIKFEST, DRESDEN (6 – 15 OCTOBER)
This year the Heinrich Schütz music festival follows the theme ‘Klang. Welt. Wissen.’ (Sound. World. Wisdom). Guests are invited to enjoy a marvellous range of classical concerts and together discover the knowledge of the world captured in sound.

FRISCÈNES THEATRE FESTIVAL, FRIBOURG (7 – 14 OCTOBER)
FriScènes, the international theatre festival, is revered as a sanctuary for creative dialogue and artistic exchange. It merges professional and amateur theatre and presents a vibrant platform for future collaborations and networking among the participants. An absolute joy to take part in – both as a performer or audience member.

JAZZ & THE CITY, SALZBURG (19 – 22 OCTOBER)
For over 20 years, the Jazz & The City has returned each year to fill Salzburg with rich sounds across 50 locations. Expect a medley of soundscapes, from world music to jazz and electronic beats, at a large range of different venues. Both established international artists and local rising stars will be performing.

VIENNALE FILM FESTIVAL, VIENNA (19 – 31 OCTOBER)
The famous international film festival in Vienna is, without a doubt, one of the most exciting events in Austria’s event calendar. This prestigious cinematic gala draws celebrities, filmmakers, and cinephiles from around the globe, offering an exciting lineup of film premieres, workshops, and dialogues. A spectacle not to be missed.

RENDEZ-VOUS BUNDESPLATZ, BERN (21 OCTOBER – 25 NOVEMBER)
Returning for its 13th year, the Rendez-vous Bundesplatz transforms the façade of the Parliament building into a canvas for storytelling. This year’s spectacle, dubbed ‘MYSTIC,’ takes a comprehensive look at the moon landing, enchanting viewers each evening with three performances (Tuesdays to Sundays).
