FESTTAGE BERLIN (6 – 17 APRIL)

Mozart, the Viennese classical composer who never ceases to fascinate, is the focus of this year’s edition of Festtage Berlin (‘festival days of Berlin’). SECHSELÄUTEN SPRING FESTIVAL, ZURICH (22 APRIL)

This traditional festival is Switzerland’s way to welcome in the spring and reminds one a little of the ‘groundhog weather forecaster’ in the USA. However, here a snowman figure called ‘Böögg’ is placed on the top of a bonfire. It is then ‘asked’ to forecast the weather for the coming summer. The fire is lit and the faster it reaches the Böögg, the warmer summer will be. Certainly, a unique spectacle not to be missed.

SPRING FUN FAIR, MUNICH (22 APRIL – 08 MAY)

The traditional spring fun fair, called ‘Frühlingsfest’ in German, could also be seen as the smaller sister of the legendary Oktoberfest, as it has two big beer tents and pretzels on offer as far as the eye can see. Over 100 different rides and attractions invite guests to let their hair down and have some fun.
