Four anniversaries, one location. In 2026, the Mercedes-Benz Museum celebrates its 20th anniversary, alongside 100 years of Mercedes-Benz, 130 years of commercial vehicles and 140 years of the automobile. A year that seamlessly connects past and future – and promises numerous highlights.

A visit to the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart does not just offer a traditional museum tour: across nine levels and 16,500 square metres of exhibition space, an impressive journey through 140 years of automotive history unfolds – from the invention of the first automobile in 1886 to visionary mobility concepts of the future.

The architecture of the museum is a statement in and of itself. The spectacular building, designed in the form of a double helix, symbolises progress and motion. Inside, two intertwining tours guide visitors through the exhibition. The Legend rooms recount the history of the Mercedes-Benz brand in chronological order, while the Collection rooms focus on thematic highlights, featuring everyday heroes such as fire and rescue vehicles as well as automotive icons and vehicles once owned by celebrities.

With around 160 vehicles and more than 1,500 exhibits in total, the museum offers an impressive diversity. Highlights include legendary models such as the Benz Patent Motor Car, the 300 SL Gullwing, and the spectacular presentation of the Silver Arrows on a steeply banked curve. Interactive stations such as the Pit stop about Formula 1 add an additional dynamic dimension to the experience.

The popularity of this concept is reflected in the visitor numbers: in 2025, the museum welcomed a record number of 945,716 visitors. Since opening in 2006, more than 14 million people from around the world have visited the Mercedes-Benz Museum.

A particular new highlight will be the special exhibition 130 Years of Commercial Vehicles, opening on 28 June 2026. It presents rarely shown icons from the history of Mercedes-Benz Vans and Mercedes-Benz Trucks. In addition, a varied events programme featuring formats such as Classics & Coffee, Family Day, Urban Culture and Open-Air Cinema will provide further highlights throughout the anniversary year.

Im Inneren führen zwei miteinander verbundene Rundgänge durch die Ausstellung. Die Mythos-Räume erzählen chronologisch die Geschichte der Marke Mercedes-Benz, während die Collections-Räume thematische Schwerpunkte setzen, was Alltagshelden wie Feuerwehr- und Rettungsfahrzeuge, aber auch Automobilikonen und Prominentenfahrzeuge beinhaltet.
