It may still be cold outside, but February’s event lineup across the DACH region is only heating up. From carnival crowds and world-class cinema to travel fairs and red-carpet nights, the month promises variety and spectacle. Whether you’re chasing culture, sport or inspiration, there’s something to pull you in.
119th White Turf – International Horseraces, St. Moritz (8, 15 and 22 February)
White Turf is an unmissable event for horse racing fans, known for its prestige and spectacle. Held annually in St. Moritz, it combines elite races on ice with fine dining, live music and a standout winter atmosphere. Set on a frozen lake, with powerful horses and a celebratory social scene, it offers a truly unique experience.

68th Vienna Opera Ball, Vienna (12 February)
The Vienna Opera Ball is the highlight of Vienna’s ball season, drawing socialites and global stars since 1877. Still as glamorous now as at its debut in 1877, it offers an evening of classic elegance. Dance on Vienna’s most iconic floor alongside debutantes and soak in the tradition and spectacle of this storied event.

Tanzolymp – International Dance Festival, Berlin (12 – 17 February)
The International Dance Festival TANZOLYMP takes place annually in Berlin under the motto “Dance as a global language” – bringing young dancers from around the world together through masterclasses, seminars and competitions. The festival aims to support dance and grow its global popularity, while showcasing diverse artistic styles and aesthetics. The highlight is the international gala, where top winners return to perform.

Cologne Carnival (12 – 18 February)
Cologne Carnival, fondly known as the fifth season, returns each year as the Rhineland’s most iconic celebration. Millions gather for the colourful costume-filled street party, complete with live music, lively parades, bold and often political floats and plenty of sweets flying through the air. It’s joyful, chaotic, traditional and unforgettable. Kölle Alaaf!

76th Berlinale – Berlin International Film Festival (12 – 22 February)
Each year the Berlin International Film Festival, or Berlinale, turns Germany’s vibrant capital into ten days of cinematic buzz. Drawing top filmmakers and stars, it features a high-energy red carpet, major awards and a highly-anticipated global film lineup. This year Wim Wenders heads the international jury and actress Michelle Yeoh is being honoured with the Honorary Golden Bear.

Valentine’s Marathon, Berlin (15 February)
Come along with your partner, a friend or bring your kids to this fun and easy-going sporting event designed for all ages. The scenic route leads through the Gärten der Welt, surrounded by vibrant greenery and beautifully curated cultural garden landscapes. After crossing the finish line, you can reward yourself with a warm cup of mulled wine for a cosy, well-earned end to the run.

f.re.e leisure and travel fair, Munich (18 – 22 February)
The f.re.e leisure and travel fair has been showcasing travel and outdoor lifestyles since 1970. Held annually in Munich, it brings together exhibitors from over 50 countries and covers everything from caravans and biking innovations to kayaking, climbing and water sport experiences, including simulated lakes and activity zones. It’s a go-to event for adventure seekers looking for new ideas, gear and inspiring destinations.

ZüriCarneval, Zurich (20 – 22 February)
For anyone wanting to dive into carnival culture in Switzerland, Zurich is a top pick. The three-day celebration brings bold costumes and nonstop brass band music, creating an upbeat, high-energy atmosphere. It’s a colourful carnival experience packed with fun and community spirit.
