Roland Hischier’s Swiss wine trade is not only dedicated to European wine classics, but also to a well-kept secret of the wine industry: top wines from Valais. Hischier sees his vintners as artists and selects his wines with a lot of passion, care and know-how. What began in 1988 as a hobby of the then new stay-at-home dad, has turned into a well-established wine business. “I like wines, which have a clear identity, reflect the vintner’s vision and the variety’s characteristics, as well as the uniqueness of the terroir,” says Hischier. “I’m particularly interested in family wine-estates, where sustainability is not just a trendy buzz word but is actually lived daily and where it is normal to maintain a respectful relationship with nature.”
