Launched in 2021 as a subsidiary brand of i Live Group GmbH, the leading and most innovative provider of micro-living in Germany, Rioca by i Live is one of the most successful new brands in the world of serviced apartments. Rioca stands for exceptional design and genuine Brazilian spirit. The idea was born out of enthusiasm for the lifestyle in Rio de Janeiro, a place full of joie de vivre, tolerance and friendship. Thanks to the staff from Brazil, preserved green plants and graffiti on the walls, Brazilian music and tasty treats at breakfast Rioca provides an authentic Rio experience. Guests can choose from differently sized apartments (named after places in Brazil) and stay from just a night up to many months.

Rio is in every detail

Guests can feel at home in the high-quality, fully furnished apartments, which feature a kitchenette, a cosy bed and a modern bathroom with rain shower, mimicking the jungle. Additionally, there’s a Smart TV, hanging chair, soundbox music table and some apartments even have balconies. Guests can also use the comforts of a hotel service. There are large community areas, fitness areas, terraces and Brazilian bars in every Rioca.

Everything follows the ‘Brazilian style’, with numerous little details reminiscent of Brazil, carefully selected and sourced directly from Rio. Vibrant Brazilian artworks
reflect the colourful spirit of Rio. The jungle, plants and hammocks are integral parts of Rioca’s unique design, creatively adorned with surfboards, Christian statues, instruments and football jerseys. Brazilian specialties combined with regional products make breakfast an unparalleled experience. Jungle sounds echo in the hallways and the bars play music like the bustling bars in Rio.

“But the best thing about Rioca is our crew. They fill our Riocas with warmth, zest for life and friendship. With these values, we’ve attracted employees from many different countries,” Amos Engelhardt says. Most of the staff comes from Brazil, keeping the Brazilian spirit authentically alive. For many, Rioca has become a second home. At Rioca, every guest can experience the unique Brazilian culture of welcoming guests. In order to achieve this, they focus their recruitment process on warmth. “We look for people who bring joy to others – everything else we can teach. This innovative approach has shielded us from any skill shortages, quite the opposite, in fact.”

Expansion – Rioca in every major city in the world

Currently, there are Riocas in Munich, Stuttgart, Neu-Ulm and two in Vienna, which makes a total of 1000 serviced apartments. In 2024, additional Riocas will open in Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Offenbach and Constance. Negotiations are underway for international openings in Rio, Miami and Lisbon.
