As soon as you step into the Haerlin, you know a truly special experience awaits. The grand interiors put you in a dreamy state of mind: Chinese silk tapestries featuring little fish made of pearls, sequins and gold embossing complement bright nuances of cream and light green.

This is the perfect setting to enjoy the exceptional compositions of executive chef Christoph Rüffer, who can look back at a long and extremely successful career. Rüffer has, without a doubt, become an essential part of the German gourmet circle. Cosmopolitan, thoughtful and supremely skilled, he effortlessly merges seemingly contradictory aromas and creates fantastic dishes with fresh, seasonal produce. He is – quite fittingly – inspired by the four seasons.

The dedication and creativity of Rüffer and his team pay off. Restaurant Haerlin has been one of Germany’s top gourmet temples for a long time. Two Michelin stars, 19 Gault Millau points and 4,5 F’s by the prestigious German magazine Feinschmecker stand testimony.

Rüffer himself has just been honoured as Germany’s best chef by the Great Restaurant & Hotel Guide 2020 . He was also awarded as Hamburg’s best chef 2018 by Gault Millau and his second in command, Sous Chef Tobias Günther, received the Rolling Pin Award as best sous chef of 2018. The Haerlin is also a member of Les Grandes Tables Du Monde.

You can watch the Haerlin chefs up-close at work for yourself, from the chef’s table, which is right in the centre of the newly designed kitchen. It’s set up in a separate, semi-transparent room amidst the working stations. Large sliding windows give exciting views of the kitchen and allow for direct interaction with the chefs.

As we all know, outstanding food is even more enjoyable when it’s accompanied by carefully selected premium wines. A real highlight for oenophiles is the built-in wine closet made of glass and polished brass, which contains some precious vintages and rarities. Enjoying a glass whilst sitting at the stunning sommelier’s high table, made of marble, completes the experience at the Haerlin perfectly.
