“No German Schlager, no Magaluf, no après-ski hits,” promises the DJ. What he offers instead are memorable weddings with style.

What is it about weddings that fascinates DJ Francois Frommage, whose real name is Tobias Radtke? And how did he come up with his unusual stage name? Tobias laughs: “I like to tell two versions. One has something to do with the Muppet Show, the other with James Bond. I let the couples guess which is the right one.

Why do I specialise in weddings? A wedding is often a once in a lifetime event. The guests are in a good mood and ready to party. And the bride and groom should get the party they want. As a DJ, this puts a lot of pressure on me but it is also a challenge that motivates and inspires me.

I only work with couples who basically share my idea of a raucous wedding party. We have to be on the same wavelength. I grew up with club culture, hip-hop jams and electronic music festivals like Tomorrowland. I want to bring that atmosphere to weddings.”

Francois Frommage has been DJing regularly for over 15 years. This has given him a good feel for the atmosphere on the dance floor. How does he use this experience as a wedding DJ? “There is a secret to a good partnership and a successful party: communication! I want to be seen as part of the party as this keeps the party going. I’m often asked about my resemblance to Mark Forster – a welcome conversation starter.

As a trained musician, e-drums are an integral part of my DJ set, so my performance is also a live act. This mixture of wedding party and club feeling is what makes me and a party with DJ Francois Frommage unique.”

Was fasziniert DJ Francois Frommage, der mit bürgerlichem Namen Tobias Radtke heißt, an Hochzeiten? Und wie kommt er zu seinem ungewöhnlichen Künstlernamen? Tobias lacht: „Ich erzähle gerne zwei Versionen. Die eine hat etwas mit der Muppet Show zu tun, die andere mit James Bond. Welche stimmt, das lasse ich die Paare gerne erraten.

Warum ich mich auf Hochzeiten spezialisiert habe? Eine Hochzeit feiert man oft nur einmal im Leben. Deshalb sind die Gäste sehr positiv gestimmt und extrem in Partylaune. Das Brautpaar soll genau die Party bekommen, die es sich wünscht. Das setzt mich als DJ unter Leistungsdruck. Aber genau diese Herausforderung motiviert und inspiriert mich.

Ich arbeite nur mit Paaren zusammen, die ähnliche Vorstellungen von einer ausgelassenen Hochzeitsfeier haben wie ich. Die Wellenlänge muss stimmen. Ich bin mit der Clubkultur aufgewachsen, mit Hip-Hop-Jams und Electronic Music Festivals wie dem Tomorrowland. Die Atmosphäre, die ich dort erlebt habe, möchte ich auf die Hochzeiten übertragen, auf denen ich als DJ auflege.”

Francois Frommage ist seit über 15 Jahren regelmäßig auf Veranstaltungen unterwegs. Deshalb hat er ein gutes Gespür für die Stimmung auf der Tanzfläche entwickelt. Wie setzt er diese Expertise als Hochzeits-DJ um? „Für eine gute Partnerschaft und eine erfolgreiche Party gibt es ein Geheimnis: Kommunikation! Ich möchte als Teil der Gesellschaft wahrgenommen werden.
Nur so wird die Party ausgelassen und hemmungslos. Ich werde häufig auf meine Ähnlichkeit mit Mark Forster angesprochen. Das ist für mich immer ein willkommener Gesprächseinstieg.
Ich bin ausgebildeter Musiker. Deswegen sind die E-Drums ein fester Bestandteil meines DJ-Sets. Damit geht mein Auftritt schon in Richtung Liveact. Die Mischung aus Hochzeitsfeier und Clubfeeling, das macht mich beziehungsweise eine Party mit DJ Francois Frommage besonders.”
