Aesthetics at Ammersee: naturalness and harmony

A t the practice for plastic surgery Aesthetics at Ammersee, great importance is placed not only on a natural end-look, but also on a long-lasting result too. The two surgeons and facelift experts Dr. Levy and Dr. Schrank caution against procedures advertised as minimal and quick. Instead, they offer the face and neck lift with SMAS – according to science, the most successful method with which to reconstruct a natural and youthful appearance.

Many of us long for a fresh, younger appearance. But often, we are too scared that the face will become a mask, looking anything but natural. The so-called ‘Beverly Hills look’ is the nightmare result for many. The experienced specialist team Dr. med. Yoram Levy und Dr. med. Christian Schrank share that opinion too. The plastic surgeons and leading experts in the field of facelifts place utmost importance on the aesthetic harmony of a patient’s overall appearance and they understand how essential a trusting relationship between patient and surgeon is.

“If you have treated burn injuries or children malformations for many years like we have, then you know how important it should be that a patient’s wishes, if they make sense, are answered,” Dr. Schrank and Dr. Levy explain. “At the end, a patient needs to look natural and non-operated. That is the most important part. They cannot be stigmatised. A tightened looking face is unacceptable, for example. And a breast should not be made to look huge or tiny, but rather it should be a perfect match for the rest of the body.”

The empathetic approach to the individual’s wishes, and the personal touch, is second nature to Dr. Levy, who also wrote the book Become Beautiful, Be Beautiful, Remain Beautiful, and ensures that he and his colleague Dr. Schrank, are not only frequently recommended due to their convincing results, but also because they appreciate humanity.

“With thousands of procedures to our name, we have certainly one of the highest numbers of facelifts carried out in Europe,” the surgeons explain. “In approximately 75 per cent of the cases, we combine the facelift with a forehead-brow lift, because the ageing-related sagging of the tissue and the sagging of the musculature underneath the skin, happens not just for the face but also the forehead.”

The surgeons state that eyebrows also sag this way and push pseudo excess skin forward onto the upper eyelid area. Often, this is wrongly removed with an upper eyelid lift. But if you lift the forehead like Dr. Levy and Dr. Schrank do, then the eyebrow area is lifted too and opens the gaze naturally.

However, Dr. Schrank knows the patients’ dilemma well, because a small eyelid lift is viewed as a minimal procedure. In the case of the facelifts carried out by Dr. Schrank and Dr. Levy, it is a bigger operation, also due to it being one of the world’s most modern and sophisticated methods. Dr. Schrank warns about the false promise that other surgeouns might give, of the same result through a minimally invasive procedure.

“Patients are often misled. Of course, they tend to do a smaller procedure with less risk, but you simply cannot achieve the desired results that way,” says Dr. Schrank.

Around 35 per cent of the patients have already been operated on when they consult Dr. Levy and Dr.Schrank. “Blatant offers such as ‘thread lift in five minutes’ or ‘weekend lift’ lead to many patients being sent home with a disappointing or even disfiguring result. It personally matters to me to help accurately inform all patients, not just my own, because those offers cause a lot of pain and unhappiness,” Dr. Schrank adds.

At the clinic at Ammersee, it is clear that an ideal result can only be achieved through an individually tailored procedure. A fresh, lifted and equally non-operated looking appearance, just as though the patient had returned from a good holiday, for example, requires bigger effort.

“Our method involves the essential SMAS muscular layer underneath the skin. You can imagine it like a trampoline which you jump on for 50 years,” explains Dr. Schrank. “The springs are worn-out and the tarpaulin sags. We can shorten or lift the springs (muscular layer) and bring back that former dynamic. This results in a fresh inner corset which can hold the facelift. At the end of the surgery, I don’t even have to stretch the skin, I just smooth it out and remove the excess. This method has actually been a breakthrough in facelift surgery.”

Dr. Levy adds: “Facelift surgery is one of the most difficult operations if it is executed at the highest standard. And again, it is always about the individual aesthetic harmony. For example, it makes no sense to lift the neck but not the cheeks.”

Dr. Levy and Dr. Schrank reconstruct natural beauty and give patients back their outer charisma to match their inner personality.
