For years, the dream destination wedding has been synonymous with Tuscany’s vineyards or the sun-drenched French Riviera. Yet a quiet shift is taking place. While Italy and France continue to inspire couples around the world, an increasing number are looking beyond the traditional hotspots and discovering the elegance, authenticity and remarkable variety of Germany, Switzerland and Austria for their weddings.

Successful destination weddings require careful preparation, and experts recommend beginning the planning process at least 12 to 18 months in advance. The most sought-after venues and suppliers often book well ahead, particularly during the summer season. Rather than planning a single day, many now plan an entire weekend experience that rewards guests for travelling long distances.
