Nestled between lush forests, endless meadows, and the gentle waves of the Baltic Sea, only 120 kilometres from Hamburg, Weissenhaus Private Nature Luxury Resort invites travellers to immerse themselves in tranquillity, wellness, and culinary excellence.
Set on an impressive 75-hectare estate, Weissenhaus offers a refreshing escape from everyday life. With a maximum of 60 guest rooms, the resort guarantees unparalleled privacy, space and exclusivity, surrounded by woodlands, meadows, and direct access to three kilometres of pristine Baltic shoreline. Located just 90 minutes away from Hamburg, it is easily accessible yet feels worlds apart, offering guests the perfect blend of natural beauty and tranquillity. “Weissenhaus is a place like no other,” shares Martin Elsner, managing director of Weissenhaus. “As a Private Nature Luxury Resort, we blend relaxation with inspiring activities: guests can join open yoga classes, attend pasta or sushi workshops, or participate in wine tastings.”

The estate, steeped in history and lovingly restored with traditional craftsmanship, is dotted with special spots like the greenhouse in the rose and scent garden, the big barn music studio, and a romantic observatory for stargazing. Whether going to an interesting workshop, a movie night in the private cinema in the historic castle vaults, an event under the open sky in the resort’s very own amphitheatre, a visit to the children’s entertainment area Kükenhaus or the spacious playground with the kids, or a custom-made picnic in a secluded spot – Weissenhaus offers its guests of all ages a constant stream of new experiences.
“What makes Weissenhaus truly special is its individuality: no two rooms are alike, and each of the 11 buildings has its own unique story,” says Elsner. “Historic houses such as the castle, the Stellmacherei, or the Meierei lovingly preserve the original charm of the ancient village, while newer structures like the Orangerie and the Signature Villa introduce a sense of modern clarity.”

The heart of relaxation
Having won multiple awards, the resort’s renowned 3,000-square-metre Schlosstherme spa is a sanctuary of rejuvenation. Six distinct saunas, tranquil relaxation rooms, an indoor pool with a direct connection to the outdoors, a saltwater whirlpool, a salt-herb sauna that overlooks the forest, and an onsen pool invite guests to unwind and reconnect to nature. Complemented by a hammam, steam bath, and rasul treatment option, the wellness journey at Weissenhaus is personalised by expert therapists offering a wide range of bespoke treatments. The yoga pavilion and active loft encourage mindful movement, while the Vitalbar provides light, healthy snacks to round off the holistic experience. The spa’s unique atmosphere, its calming effect, and deep connection to nature offer guests a sanctuary where tranquility can be truly embraced.

A feast for the senses
The resort’s array of restaurants caters to every palate, from Mediterranean classics to inventive Asian delicacies. The Bootshaus restaurant, located directly on the beach, delights with sun-drenched terraces and uninterrupted sea views, serving modern Mediterranean dishes crafted from seasonal, local ingredients. “Generous terraces, a gentle sea breeze, and stunning sunsets create a setting reminiscent of balmy Mediterranean evenings,” Elsner says.
Restaurant NAMI, on the other hand, is housed in the historic castle and immerses guests in Asian cuisine, framed by European influences and breathtaking views of the garden, expansive meadows, and the ocean. Here, the finely balanced dishes are prepared with the utmost care and passion, and are presented in a stylish and unique way, from artful sushi rolls to homemade dim sum and Japanese Robata grill specialties.
Bar 1896, located in the historic castle vault, impresses with its uniquely crafted signature drinks, while the Kavaliershaus breakfast restaurant invites guests to indulge in a hearty breakfast every day until 12pm. Regular culinary events, wine evenings and sun-downer sessions further enhance the gastronomic experience.
Nature and history interwoven
Weissenhaus is more than a luxury resort; it is an experience shaped by the enchanting landscapes of the Hohwachter Bay and Holstein Switzerland. “The region around Weissenhaus brings together two different yet equally captivating landscapes,” Elsner observes. “Bay of Hohwacht enchants with its pristine coastline and wide Baltic views, while Holstein Switzerland offers gentle hills, lakes, and dense forests.”
From long walks along ancient tree avenues to expansive e-bike tours and starry nights in the observatory, guests are invited to reconnect with themselves and nature. “Weissenhaus is on the mainland, but you should feel like you’re on an island – far from everything that weighs you down,” Elsner adds.
The hotel’s Peerstall can further be booked for company events and meetings, while the Reetscheune is a great event location for celebrations and weddings. A modern, well-equipped recording studio, the Big Barn Studios, further offers state-of-the-art technology and facilities for musicians and artists, ensuring an inspiring environment for creative projects.
Weissenhaus Private Nature Luxury Resort stands as a testament to thoughtful hospitality, where every guest finds space to breathe, indulge, and discover. With its harmonious blend of history, wellness, gastronomy, and nature, it invites guests to experience Germany’s Baltic coast in unforgettable style.
