Freddie Mercury, the legendary frontman of the cult band Queen, tragically passed away at the age of 45, leaving a void in the music world that is still felt today. He and his band enjoyed worldwide success, and their legendary hits continue to delight generations. Queen’s musical spectrum ranges from rock, pop, and classical to soulful ballads, disco, and R&B. Thanks to the award-winning film Bohemian Rhapsody (2018), numerous documentaries, impressive live performances, and, of course, their unforgettable music, Queen remains immortalised by their huge fan base ¬– and is as present today as ever. For those who have always wanted to see Queen live, The Music of Queen Live will begin their European tour with the “young Freddie” in 2026.

“What a voice!”

Queen’s magnificent music is presented by a first-class live band led by charismatic frontman Valentin L. Findling, who embodies Freddie Mercury more breathtakingly and authentically than anyone else. He has the voice, the look, and the moves; a unique multi talent rarely found anywhere else in the world. “Valentin commands the stage like a tiger. It’s hard to escape his presence, his voice, and his charisma,” according to The Music of Queen Live.

“The special thing about Valentin is that he didn’t apply for a job anywhere, but rather, by chance, he ended up following in the footsteps of arguably the greatest rock icon,” says Andy Keller, the band’s bassist. “And that makes the whole thing all the more absurd. Because Valentin sounds like Freddie Mercury, he looks like Freddie Mercury, he moves like Freddie Mercury, but he doesn’t have to ‘play’. He has an incredible voice, with the same enormous range as Freddie, which at times sounds so similar that you really forget that Freddie is already gone. And yet, on stage, he’s palpably himself. And that’s a big part of the magic of this show.”

“Amazing, unbelievable.”

The creation of the show The Music Of Queen Live, presented by Wolff-Concerts, was indeed a happy coincidence. The band, which had already supported Manfred Mann’s Earth Band and Eric Clapton, among others, already existed – albeit without Valentin. Valentin originally filled in as pianist for the Michael Jackson musical BEAT IT!, as keyboardist and fellow student Lukas was temporarily unavailable. “That’s how we all met for the first time about a year before the show began,” Keller recalls. “When an inquiry arose for a few concerts focusing on Queen, the answer was: ‘You look just like Freddie Mercury! Can you sing too?'” The answer was clear – and so it all took its course. During the coronavirus pandemic, Valentin immersed himself intensively in Freddie’s style, and the band of experienced professional musicians worked together in the studio to meticulously rehearse the Queen songs. After the pandemic, they hit the ground running and went on a tour around Germany.

Today, The Music Of Queen Live offers a comprehensive setlist of the entire Queen repertoire. While the music is naturally Queen-inspired, the band also brings its own contemporary ideas and show elements to breathe new energy into the works of May, Taylor, and Deacon. The result is a killer show that unites young and old and brings generations together. Therefore, The Music Of Queen Live appeals not only to die-hard Queen fans, but is also something for people who crave a top-notch rock ‘n’ roll concert. “It’s especially important to us to bring the young fans along,” says Keller. “We’re a ‘younger’ band ourselves and see ourselves as part of a new generation of rock music.”

On stage, this rock ‘n’ roll spirit comes alive; “sometimes pompously monumental, sometimes hard and fast, but also at times loving and fragile,” adds Keller. “In the end, we’re not imitating Queen, but rather capturing the music as befits this calibre. In our own way, as if they were our songs, but with the love and respect for the incredible energy and ingenuity of this millennium-spanning band.”

Präsentiert wird die großartige Musik von Queen von einer erstklassigen Liveband um den charismatischen Frontmann Valentin L. Findling, der Freddie Mercury so atemberaubend und authentisch verkörpert wie kein Zweiter. Er hat die Stimme, den Look und die Moves; ein einzigartiges Multitalent eben, das es so auf der Welt nur selten gibt. „Valentin besetzt die Bühne wie ein Tiger. Man kann seiner Präsenz, seiner Stimme und seinem Charisma kaum entkommen“, so The Music of Queen Live.

„Das Besondere an Valentin ist, dass er sich nirgendwo beworben hat, sondern dass er durch Zufall in den Fußstapfen der wohl größten Rockikone gelandet ist“, sagt Andy Keller, Bassist der Band. „Und das macht das Ganze umso absurder. Denn Valentin klingt wie Freddie Mercury, er sieht aus wie Freddie Mercury, er bewegt sich wie Freddie Mercury, aber er muss es nicht ‚spielen‘. Er hat eine unglaubliche Stimme, mit dem gleichen enormen Tonumfang wie Freddie, die teilweise so ähnlich klingt, dass man wirklich vergisst, dass Freddie eigentlich schon von uns gegangen ist. Und trotzdem ist er auf der Bühne spürbar ganz er selbst. Und das ist ein großer Teil der Magie dieser Show.“

„Der Hammer, unglaublich.“

Die Entstehung der Show The Music Of Queen Live, präsentiert von Wolff-Concerts, war tatsächlich ein glücklicher Zufall: Die Band, die unter anderem schon als Support von Manfred Mann’s Earth Band und Eric Clapton spielten, existierte bereits – allerdings noch ohne Valentin. Ursprünglich sprang Valentin als Pianist beim Michael Jackson Musical BEAT IT! ein, da Keyboarder und Studienkollege Lukas vorübergehend ausfiel. „So sind wir uns circa ein Jahr vor Beginn der Show alle zum ersten Mal begegnet“, erinnert sich Keller. „Als dann eine Anfrage im Raum stand, für ein paar Konzerte mit dem Fokus auf Queen, hieß es dann: ‚Du siehst doch so aus wie Freddie Mercury! Kannst du auch singen?‘“ Die Antwort war eindeutig – und so nahm alles seinen Lauf. Während der Corona-Zeit vertiefte sich Valentin intensiv in Freddies Stil, und die Band von erfahrenen Profimusikern arbeitete gemeinsam die Queen-Songs im Studio detailgetreu durch. Nach der Pandemie starteten sie voll durch und gingen auf Deutschland-Tour.

Heute bietet die Band um The Music Of Queen Live mit ihrer Setlist einen Rundumschlag durch das gesamte Queen Repertoire. Während sich die Musik selbstverständlich an Queen orientiert, bringt die Band auch eigene, zeitgemäße Ideen und Show-Elemente ein, um den Werken von May, Taylor und Deacon neue Energie zu verleihen. Das Resultat ist eine Bombenshow, die Jung und Alt vereint und Generationen zusammenbringt. The Music Of Queen Live spricht daher nicht nur eingefleischte Queen-Fans an, sondern ist auch etwas für Menschen, die Lust auf ein Rock ‘n’ Roll-Konzert der Extraklasse haben. „Uns ist es vor allem auch wichtig, die jungen Fans mitzunehmen“, sagt Keller. „Wir sind ja selbst eher eine ‚jüngere‘ Band und sehen uns als Teil einer neuen Generation der Rockmusik.“

Auf der Bühne wird dieser Rock ‚n‘ Roll Spirit lebendig; „mal pompös monumental, mal hart und schnell, aber auch mal liebevoll und zerbrechlich“, ergänzt Keller. „Am Ende machen wir Queen nicht nach, sondern fangen die Musik genauso ein, wie es sich für dieses Kaliber gehört. Auf unsere eigene Art, als wären es unsere Songs, aber mit der Liebe und dem Respekt zu der unglaublichen Energie und dem Einfallsreichtum dieser Jahrtausend-Band.“
