Learning a new language is never easy, but when you live in a foreign country, mastering the language is key to making a home away from home. However, setting aside the time needed to develop the skill often poses an even bigger challenge when it has to fit around specific circumstances of migrant mothers and their children, women with underpaid jobs or students. Swiss language school Aida is a unique institute offering over 30 courses specifically for non-German speaking women and their children. The course fees depend on personal income and are heavily subsidised to ensure that every woman has the opportunity to learn German, regardless of age, previous education level, wealth, nationality or residence status.
